village to raise a child, well let me tell you, it takes an entire family to raise a baby parrot. We have been raising parrots for about 10 years and its been a combined effort that has included a lot of family members. You should have seen my husband and my brother's face when I explained to them that we needed to build a new house for the parrots. My husband did the planning and building (with a lot of help from my brothers and some friends). My brother took care of the heating, air conditioning and lighting. My dad even kicked in and helped. Now that was a stressful time. My mom is my partner and best friend. We share everything, from the daily routine of feeding and cleaning,to the tedious job of helping a baby cockatoo break out of its shell. I even include my daughter in the fun. She gets the 11 pm baby feedings, and all of the 2 hour feedings that run through the night. Everyone understands when supper is late because the babies have to eat first. This combined effort is how we raise healthy, happy babies! |
